Gorse

A short walk from my Lake District home - up a steep hill and past the quarry - is an amazing view towards Wild Boar Fell. When the gorse is flowering, the smell is overpowering. I couldn’t quite paint the scent of the gorse, but I did my best.

During covid, we used to take tuna fish sandwiches up the hill and sit overlooking this view. It was easy, then, to forget the turmoil and sadness of covid.

The painting is acrylic on canvas
